POWER PACKED BREAKFAST? HELLO SMOOTHIES!

2020-07-08By : Harshita Chaarag

“Breakfast like a king, lunch like a commoner and dinner like a pauper.”

That’s how the quotation goes, right? Unfortunately, real-life practice is often the opposite. Between getting ready for work, over-sleeping because of Work From Home and the sheer effort of cooking, the whole “Breakfast like a king” concept takes a hit.

So for those of us who are lesser motivated in the mornings, this article is your trick to upping the nutrition and becoming the ROYALS.

Smoothies, conventionally, are full of dairy products that are often fattening and sugar, which doesn’t help matters, either. Breakfast smoothies, on the contrary, are a whole lot healthier and will aid your weight loss journey.

So, let’s jump right into it!

WHAT YOU NEED

  • A Blender
  • A Mug or Glass
  • Greek Yoghurt (Optional)
  • 2 fruits of your choice, preferably fresh
  • 1 vegetable of your choice, preferably fresh.

HOW TO MAKE

  1. Cut your fruits and vegetables into small pieces so that they can be blended easily.
  2. Pop the chopped fruits and vegetables and blend them. If you have trouble blending them, you can add some water.
  3. To add a creamy texture, you can add some Greek Yoghurt. If you want to keep the fat to a minimal, skip the Yoghurt.
  4. Pour into your Mug or Glass.

Voila! Your smoothie is ready!

OUR TRIED & TESTED FRUIT COMBINATIONS FOR A BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE

  1. Peach, oatmeal & Greek Yoghurt
  2. Berry, Apple & Banana (Strawberry and Blackberries)
  3. Orange & Greek Yoghurt
  4. Spinach & Berry (Strawberry and Blackberries)
  5. Carrot, Orange & Greek Yoghurt.

A FEW TIPS

  • A lot of people don’t enjoy smoothies unless they have a creamy base. Here’s where you can use Greek Yoghurt.
  • You can also add a few nuts to your smoothie for a higher nutritional value. However, remember to soak them for a few hours and make sure you peel them.
  • The ratio of 1 vegetable to 2 fruits will help you balance the flavour while also keeping it yummy.
  • If you’re not sure of what fruit to use, slice up some bananas. They are sweet as well as nutritious.

That’s it. Now you’re ready to get yourself a mugful of nutrition!
